Michael Kors.......Spring '13 Collection

I always thought that Ralph Lauren was the leading man when it came to sophisticated and classy pieces. I think the "nautical look" theme that he tends to stick to looks so refined. That was until I received an email displaying Michael Kors Spring Collection. I am in love with this collection. It exudes class and sophistication to the fullest. This would so work for my wardrobe as I continue to refine my taste to match the likes of women that I admire. I don't know about you but I can so see myself matching the elegance of Claire Huxtable (hey, she's real to me), Ruby Dee, Diahnne Carrol, Sally Field and Jamie Lee Curtis. These are women I think that have truly grown old gracefully without the need for any type of surgery. Now, if I can get a few of these pieces.....I'm on my way.

Animal Print.......

 

Either I'm getting old or my lack of appreciation for Animal Prints has been non-existent. I can recall teasing my mother endlessly about her love for all things Animal. I used to tell her that our house is going to turn into the movie "Jumanji" one day. We had enough animal print and plants that you could have possibly mistaken our home to be some kind of jungle. But here it is 2012 and I say it loud and proud............"I simply love ANIMAL PRINT anything." I think it is the greatest accent piece to any outfit and room in the home. I simply love it on my feet. Here are some on the ways that I love to incorporate the print into my wardrobe. I think on my latest date night, I may have went overboard with my accessories but hey if  looking like a character on the Lion King makes me feel good, Who Cares what other people feel? Isn't fashion about your own personal taste. I'm truly doing a thousand in the following pics.

This is so cute. The detail on the shirt is so cute. I purchased one from Piperlime but it doesn't have the detail. I would purchase again if it is back in stock in my size. One thing I love about Zara is they restock their items often.

I love fashion. I stalk several blogs on the daily and I always see the cutest pieces labeled as "Thrifted". So immediately I go to find out where this person lives so that I can determine why I have never run up on a thrift store selling such cute things  Okay let me be honest, I have never really thrifted. It's not like I don't like secondhand clothing. (that looks new or slightly used) I have been in several consignment stores with the intention of browsing and hoping to find a great piece that someone was foolish to give away. Never happened!!! You want to know why?.....I just can't take the smell. I don't care how many times they say that they have washed those clothes, it still smells. Just like feet and....... you finish it. So I have been trying to come up with a way to shop secondhand (without throwing up) and still get items that I like. Solution.........many fashion bloggers sell their own stuff. Whether it is an over purchase by a shopaholic or an item just  rarely worn, you can get some really good stuff. Which leds me to the blogspot of "Where Did U Get That" or "wdugt" for short.

Karen (the blog owner) has some really great deals for new and used items that she is selling. I was able to browse and come across a lovely pair of sunglasses that are just my style and price range.  Check out my First Secondhand purchase. I'm so proud!!!

My Heel Fix......

I have made a vow, promise,  more like a suggestion to myself that I will not purchase a single thing that has to do with fashion until I take my trip to New York next month. Isn't that the ultimate shopping capital? Well it depends on who you ask. Anywhere (I dont mean anywhere, anywhere) I find a sale that is 50% off or more is the place to be. For me, internet shopping is where it's at. You would think that I have tons of friends that care about me by looking at the number of emails that I have in my inbox. Nope! (In my defense, it's how you define friends, duh!) I think that Banana Republic, Nordstrom, Michael Kors, Gilt, Hautelook, MYhabit, THE OUTNET (just to name a few) are MY Friends. They contact me everyday and call me by my name and they are always looking out for me and my wallet. How many of your friends would do that? Exactly! If not, you need to seek ones that really have your best interest at heart. I digress, this post was supposed to be about SHOES!! (my best friends).

ANYWAY, while I'm staring at my reflection in the computer monitor, repeatedly telling myself that "you are better than this, you can beat this shopping addiction" I get an email stating that the 12:00 flash sale for Last Call Neiman Marcus will be starting in 10 minutes. Like Florida Evans, DAMN, DAMN, DAMN was my first thought. Do I just simply ignore it? Do I care that I have been waiting for the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale and it starts today? Do I care that someone less loyal than myself may sccop up the deal that was meant for me? What do I do?

I got it. Why didn't I think of this sooner? WINDOW SHOP!!! I didn't say that I couldn't look. Besides this will help me to narrow down my desires so that when I do get to New York I will have in mind just what I am looking for. The best part, I can take ya'll with me to help me to just say NO!!
Alright, were going in and I am counting on you, friend. Help me to stay strong. You have been warned!

Something about Tammy........

You know how there is one thing about you that makes you feel like you are the baddest chick alive and no one can step to you or come near your shine? Well today, I felt that way. Why??? My hair of course. Girlfriend, when me and my natural are on the same page and getting along, I am one to be reckoned with. You can't tell me nothing. (you could but I ain't listening) I have been waiting patiently (please, whatever) for 2 and a half years for an Angela Davis type fro. I'm not there yet but my attitude is on 1000 when I do get a fro that is showing promise. I want to take pictures with my lips poked out, posing in front of the camera with the incomparable bathroom shot, (dirty bedroom shot exluded) and of course the one where I am looking over my back with the picture screaming, "Uh huh, I know, get it boo." But since I will be 41 next month and am a mother of three teenage boys, I thought it would be a good look if I just kept this classy. Check out me and my fro and see if you can tell that I  am feeling something about Tammy.

OOTD.......or Weekend

I'll never consider myself to be a fashionista. I am just a women who loves fashion. I don't have the desire to dress others or be a personal stylist. It is enough for me to dress myself and normally that is stressful enough. My style has changed so many times throughout the years. I started off as a tomboy with jeans, sweatshirts, and tennis shoes and have elevated to heels, dresses and purses and jewelry. At 40, I look to women such as Lena Horne, Ruby Dee, Claire Huxtable and Diahann Carroll as examples of what class I would like exude as I go forward. I think that these women carry themselves with such grace and poise that speak volumes. Check out my attempts to carry the torch.

I am really feeling maxi dresses. I got this from Zara in Las Vegas. It is very light and perfect for the 102 degrees we had this weekend.

Here are some of my jewelry pieces that I have been trying to incorporate into my wardrobe. I love this color.
