My Journey.......

I have always been a lover of natural hair. For the longest time I have always desired to have locs. Never had the courage to go all the way. Finally two years ago, I decided that now is the time to do something about it. Who cares what others think? Well I do, but you know what I mean. Since then I have been through it all. So many emotions came with the big chop. So many personal discoveries that have nothing to do with hair have taken place since January 2010. I never knew how much of my self esteem was actually connected to my hair. There have been days that I have desired to sit in the salon chair and say "I'll take a relaxer, please" but yet realized I would hate myself for it. This is what I want, I think. Some days are easier than others but I still believe that this journey has been worth it, for so many other reasons besides hair. I am resolute. I'm not turning back. I like what I have become thus far. I'm still learning me. I welcome the experiences that have yet to take place with a level of confidence that I never had before. To me, the pictures below exude the confidence and beauty of how a woman looks when she is comfortable with who she is and loves everything about herself. Oh yeah, they just happen to have natural hair!!!! No disrespect to what you choose to ROCK, this just does something for me.

Did I mention that I stopped at "Rugged Warehouse" looking for some house items and found a pair of wool shorts that I had seen in Anthropologie for $98.00 for $14.99. Did I buy them? Of course I did. Will I wear them like they cost $98.00? No....... I will wear them like they cost $198.00. So excited!!!

I also found some wonderful in-store deals at Ann Taylor. They were offering an additional 50% off their already marked down items. I got some really good bargains, I couldn't believe the number of items that I got for less than $100.00. Stay tuned for future posts. I am sure I will be camera ready when I wear them. Also Macy's offered their usual additional 15% to 30% additional off of the marked down price. If only their sales rack wasn't so cluttered. But hey, I'm no quitter!!! So many stores to choose from this weekend. So what did you happen to see that had your name on it?

Special Assembly Day

Today was filled with much Spiritual food. Can you say stuffed? We had over 6 nonstop hours of a wonderful cuisine which consisted of biblical instruction, encouragement and wonderful friends who are like family. So when families gather what do you think happens next?  Food & Pictures....duh!!! Take a look at my spiritual family. Aren't we beautiful!!!

It's Friday!!!

 

Friday is finally here and it just so happens to be a three-day weekend. There are so many things that I would love to do. Of course money and crowded highways will keep me immobile so I decided to create a wonderful stay-cation at home. Here's my picture perfect stay-cation. What's yours?

Good Food. How much better can it get to have a good meal that you dont have to cook. I suddenly have a taste for Carraba's.

What would a good sale do to invigorate my soul? Lots. I love to find a good bargain.

Who wouldn't love the serenity of a relaxing spa. I would love the idea of being pampered and being waited on hand a foot.

Spending time with my family looks a lot like this picture. You definitely can not have thin skin with us. Everyone is fair game at anytime. Whose the master at trash talking....you guessed it me!!!!

Taking time to smell the.......

After a long day at work and some time at the gym, it felt good to come home and see my flowers starting to bloom. My favorite time of the year. Jehovah's marvelous creations are pure simplistic beauty. You can't help but to SMILE!!!

 My little friend Shae. I had a girls day out with her recently. Reminded why I am thankful for boys. I didn't ever think I would get worn out at the mall. I underestimated the energy of an 8 year old.

Spring Wedding

I went to a wedding this past Saturday. The talk given was a reminder of our roles as husband and wife and how by following the bible guidelines leads to a successful marriage. My husband and I attended together so we each got a renewed spirit for working hard on our marriage.
